By applying for membership at Miala you are agreeing to follow the Rules and Guidelines listed below, understand that any prejudice against race, religion, thoughts, opinions, etc. will not be tolerated, will treat every member with respect and maturity, will be safe on the internet and never give our personal information, be active and thoughtful in literate roleplay, and will accept any and all consequences for breaking these rules. Understand that rules are subject to change.
For Miala, the same rules apply - save for a few details. Please be respectful to others, kind, and polite. The non-THL specific rules still apply, please read THL's rule list here for more information. As members of THL already, we kinda just want to outline new things about Miala in these rules.

[height] LANGUAGE & OTHERS We are much more lenient on Miala than on THL. Extreme curse words should be used sparingly if at all; and never allowed in the cbox or ooc. We're also more accepting of suggestive themes, however ProBoards has a 'fade to black' rule in their terms of service, and therefore, it's obviously not allowed here. Lewd words are not permitted, but talk of suggestive themes, intense flirting and romance is. Just keep it classy.
STAFF RULES The staff's word is still law.
INTERACTION Naturally since all of the characters played here are not in separate territories, this is a new chance to interact with other human personas when your cat might've not been able to interact otherwise.
INTERACTION We wish to outline the fact that, while THL and Miala have the same characters, all plotlines do not necessarily carry over. Just because your characters are friends in THL does not mean that they're auto-friends in Miala (ie; Autumnstar's human is not friends with Badgerstar's human automatically even if she's friends with him in the Clans). Members can choose to carry over plots from THL; however, you can also choose to create new plotlines--as in change your character's mate, or create a completely new plot. Since there are no Clan boundaries, characters from both Clans are free to create new plots with each other. (ie; Badgerstar is mates with Gentlevoice on Miala, but mates with Featherstep in THL).

[height] MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS Multiple characters on one account is confusing, and makes it difficult for the admin to keep track of all the characters. With multiple accounts, it is much easier to find a thread to join. When looking through the threads in an in-character board, its very easy to see (by the ending of the character's name, and the color of their member group) what kind of character the thread is about, and makes it easier for you to find a thread faster. Because of this, we ask you to create a new account for every character you wish to roleplay.
POSITIONS You're ranked as either a student in the college or resident who lives in the city. You can be an "adult" (past "normal" college age) and take college classes, in which case you would still be labeled as a resident.
DISPLAY NAME & GENDER This is a strict rule. You must set your display name and gender to that of your character, not of your own personal gender or ooc name. Display names and gender can be modified in your profile. You're character will not be accepted if you do not adhere to these rules.
SYMBOLS & LOCATION You may add symbols to your display name, but you cannot have symbols placed before your name or display name. Putting symbols before your name will mess up the alphabetical organization of the member list. Please do not use other symbols that people have already used, as it is like a stamp of said role-player and therefore makes it easier to recognize who plays who. We also ask that you do not use the Location feature in the mini-profile. It stretches out the boards and makes our site look unclean.
AVATARS & SIGNATURES Avatars are optional, however if you do decide to have one please read on. Avatars can be up to 130 x 230. Do not stretch the board, if the skin stretches, you lose signature privileges. GIFs as signatures are allowed, as long as the have muted colors and are not obnoxiously flashing. You must include your OOC name and the names of your characters, and their feline counterparts on THL somewhere in your signature. This just helps the admin keep track of everyone. If you wish to link to an account on THL too, you can.

[height] LITERACY We are a literate roleplay, and therefore expect you to write with literacy. Use correct spelling and grammar, and read over your work before making a post. There will be no tolerance for chatspeak in roleplay. Some writers like to leave every word lowercase, for effect; this is acceptable. As far as word count goes, we don't like to limit creativity, so we have no set number. However, every post you make should use all your characters senses, along with providing some sort of action or thought. The golden rule with post length is that you need to give the other person enough to respond to. What you give is more or less what you should expect to receive in return.
POST EFFECTS The use of tables are highly, highly encouraged. Tables insure that your posts won't be ruptured from skin changes. Keep your font size to one, and if you would, bold your dialogue and italicize your thoughts. We discourage changing the font face of your main posts, as Verdana (the site default setting) is the easiest to read. If you would like some font face variety, Georgia is the second-best option. We highly discourage changing the color of your text, unless you are working within a table (as, again, skin changes will rupture the effect of the color-change).
MULTIPLE THREADS You are allowed only three threads at a time with one character. We use a system of liquid time, but having your character in more than three places at once can be confusing. If you wish to close your thread, or your thread is complete, please post "closed" at the bottom or in the title, and a board monitor will have the thread moved to the Archives.

[height] ACTIVE Being active, by our standards, means that you log in at least three times a week, and make a complete roleplay post at least once a week. We understand (especially during the school year) that life off Miala should be your major priority, and we understand and encourage that philosophy. However, you are considered inactive if you have not logged on in at least three weeks. These rules do not apply if you have posted a hiatus note in the Absence board. THL should be your priority over Miala.
INACTIVE If you have not logged into THL or Miala in at least three weeks, then you are considered inactive, and at risk of losing your characters and possibly your account. An admin will PM you, asking for the reason behind your long absence. If you do not respond in two weeks, your account will be put on hiatus. You then have an additional two weeks to reclaim your place on our site before your account is deleted.
